Charlottetown Islanders News Release

Riding a wave of momentum and a long winning streak, the Charlottetown Islanders roll in to Drummondville to take on the Voltigeurs in the first leg of their second Quebec road trip of the season.

The Islanders (10-5-1-0) have won seven games in a row, a streak that dates back to October 12th. They'll face a tough task tonight in the Voltigeurs (11-4-1-0), who have not lost in regulation in the past seven games as well.

Both teams have scored a plethora of goals, sitting within a couple of goals of each other near the top of the league. The Islanders are led in that department by Nikita Alexandrov and Daniel Hardie, who each have 10 goals. Hardie in particular is one of the hottest players in the QMJHL as of late, having racked up an astounding 15 points in his last seven games. He leads the Islanders with 19 points on the season.

For Drummondville, Joe Veleno leads the way statistically with 21 points in just 14 games. Like Hardie, the Detroit Red Wings first-round pick is also coming off of a red-hot October, where he scored 19 points in 12 games.

This game marks the first time that forward Gregor MacLeod will face his former team while wearing Drummondville colours. The former Islander was traded from the Quebec Remparts to the Voltigeurs early in the regular season and sits second on the team with 20 points in 14 games, including seven points in his last four games.

The Voltigeurs will be missing a key piece to their blueline tonight, as Chicago Blackhawks first-round pick Nicolas Beaudin remains sidelined with a wrist fracture. For the Islanders, Liam Peyton will also miss this road trip with what's being described as a back injury.

Tonight's game can be heard on Fair Isle Ford Isles Radio. Tune in tonight at 8:30pm AST to hear George Matthews and Aidan Northcott with the call!
