Evansville Thunderbolts News Release
EVANSVILLE, IN - Evansville scored on the first shift of the game and built a two-goal lead in the first period. Brent Clarke scored 41 seconds into the game. Tommy Fiorentino scored at the 17:50 mark, and Evansville built their largest lead of the early season.
Tyler Gjurich scored in the second period for Roanoke. However, Johnny Daniels restored the two-goal lead for the Thunderbolts 41 seconds later. Unfortunately for Evansville, the penalties began. For a second night in a row, Evansville needed to kill a five on three opportunity. Roanoke scored two power play goals by Tyler Gjurich and Massimo Lamacchia to tie the game at three after 40 minutes of play.
Evansville outshot Roanoke 34 to 24 for the final two periods, but couldn't get another shot past Ryan de Melo. Tyler Gjurich added the empty net goal for the victory and his hat trick. Johnny Daniels and Tommy Fiorentino led the Thunderbolts with six shots. Each had a goal.
Evansville hosts Peoria Wednesday morning for Education Day Game. The game starts at 9:30 a.m.
