Peoria Rivermen News Release
JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME
Peoria picked up a 4-3 win last night thanks to a pair of goals by rookie center Nick D'Avolio in his professional debut. D'Avolio was in training camp with Macon before he was released after concluding a four-year collegiate career at Wisconsin-Stevens Point, where he tallied 23 goals and 17 assists over 87 career games.
A GOAL S-GOR-ING EFFORT
Peoria's third goal last night was scored by rookie winger Connor Gorman, who gathered his own rebound and fired off-balance past Garrett Bartus to tie the game at three midway through the second period. The goal, Gorman's first as a pro, comes in his second career game after he notched 34 goals and 34 assists over a 104-game, 4-year college career at SUNY-Plattsburgh, where he was a teammate of former Rivermen and Mayhem center Connor Toomey.
BIG GOAL FROM BIG D
Last night's game-winning goal for the Rivermen game from veteran winger Cody Dion with less than 3 minutes remaining in the final period of regulation. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder took a rebound off the back boards and put it over Bartus' left pad to put Peoria ahead for good in the game. In his SPHL career, the 26-year-old has scored 26 goals and assisted on 18 others over 75 career games, including 8 goals and five assists over 19 games with Peoria.
STABILITY BETWEEN THE PIPES
Last night's 4-3 Rivermen victory saw Peoria change goaltenders early in the second period for the third consecutive game. After starter Matt Grogan allowed three goals on 11 shots, Peoria lifted him in favor of rookie Tyler Green, who stopped all 20 shots he faced to earn the win in relief. The 6-foot-3 Wisconsin-Eau Claire product earned the victory in a game that was also his professional debut.
WHAT'S AHEAD
After tonight's game the Rivermen will play a 9:30 AM game Wednesday in Evansville against the expansion Thunderbolts. Following that Peoria will play a pair of games at Carver Arena next Friday and Saturday against the Pensacola Ice Flyers, who swept Peoria in the President's Cup Finals this past May.

SCOUTING THE MAYHEM
The Macon Mayhem enter tonight's game paced in goal-scoring by former Rivermen winger Jake Trask, who was traded to the Mayhem last season along with defenseman Nick Grasso in exchange for rookie center Connor Toomey. Trask has a pair of goals for the Mayhem in three games, and added an assist last night. Macon's assist and point leader is rookie center John Siemer, who had a goal and an assist last night to double his season point total.
