Long Island Ducks News Release

(Central Islip, N.Y., May 10, 2006) - The Long Island Ducks today announced that the second annual HIP Grand Slam Challenge will be held at Citibank Park, home of the Long Island Ducks, on Saturday, June 10 at 7:05 p.m. The sponsor of the event is HIP Health Plan of New York.

The contest marks the second time that All-Star teams from Suffolk and Nassau counties will square off in a nine-inning contest to showcase the best seniors from across Long Island. Newsday will select two teams of 18 players from each county.

Suffolk County will be coached by former Deer Park coach Carmine Argenziano. Over his 30-year tenure, his teams posted a 474-221 record, winning three Long Island titles and three Suffolk County championships. Doug Robins of Division (Levittown) will be at the helm for Nassau's squad. Over his coaching career, the 30-year Division skipper owns a 687-154-7 while winning two state championships and seven Long Island titles.

In last season's inaugural contest, Suffolk County's squad edged Nassau, 16-15, in front of a packed crowd at Citibank Park. The event was a tremendous success, as baseball fans from across Long Island came out to cheer the best players that both counties had to offer.

"HIP Health Plan of New York takes sincere pleasure in continuing a great tradition by sponsoring the Grand Slam Challenge. This exciting event is one of the many ways that HIP, together with its Vytra brand, promotes fitness and wellness activities for all Long Islanders," said Daniel T. McGowan, President and COO of HIP Health Plan of New York."

Tickets to the event are $5.00 and can be purchased by visiting the Citibank Park box office or by calling 631-940-TIXX beginning May 11. All ticket proceeds will benefit the QuackerJack Foundation, the charitable arm of the Ducks.
