A double steal allowed Hewitt to get to second and Mitchell to score for a 5-2 advantage. Cartwright finished the scoring with a two-run home run making it 7-2 Reading.

Erie would twice cut into the Reading lead. In the seventh, James McCann and Corey Jones each singled and scored on a Luis Castillo double. In the eighth, the 'Wolves loaded the bases and Jones was hit by a pitch to plate Erie's fifth run to close the gap to three. They would get no closer, falling 8-5.
