Akron RubberDucks News Release

Erie's Josh Lester homered twice and drove in six RBI, and Spenser Watkins earned his first Double-A win, as the SeaWolves throttled the Akron RubberDucks, 11-5, Monday night at UPMC Park in Erie, Pa.

Turning Point

The SeaWolves (60-66) doubled their lead from 3-0 to 6-0 in the third inning against Kyle Dowdy (3-8). After back-to-back walks to start the inning, Dowdy fanned former Ducks star Willi Castro, but then served up a three-run homer to Lester on a 2-2 pitch to give the Wolves a 6-0 lead. It was Lester's second homer of the game, adding to his two-run shot in the first.

Mound Presence

Dowdy, who opened the season with the SeaWolves prior to a July trade, lasted just three innings. He allowed six earned runs on four hits and three walks. Dowdy dropped to 0-4 in four starts with the Ducks. SeaWolves hitters inflicted more damage after Dowdy left, scoring once against Argenis Angulo in the fifth and four more times in the sixth against Dominic DeMasi.

Duck Tales

The RubberDucks (70-56) got a pair of homers from clean-up man Nellie Rodriguez, who smacked a three-run homer in the fifth off Watkins and a two-run blast in the seventh off Sandy Baez. Rodriguez now has three homers for the Ducks. Tyler Krieger continued his hot streak as he collected a pair of hits, including a double, to extend his hit streak to six games.
