
SeaWolves Shut out Baysox

Bowie, Md. - A night after tying their season-high with 16 hits, the Baysox (10-9) set a new season-low with two hits in a 6-0 shutout loss to Erie (7-10) Wednesday night. It was the first shutout loss of the season for the Baysox.
Erie got on the board first in the top of the second inning against Baysox starter Zach Davies. Steven Moya hit a one-out infield single and Dean Green followed with a walk. Francisco Martinez plated Moya with a single to center field to make the score 1-0.
The SeaWolves expanded the lead in the top of the third inning. With one out, Eugenio Suarez reached on a fielding error by third baseman Buck Britton. Later in the inning with two outs and the bases loaded, Green hit a grand slam over the right field fence to give Erie a 5-0 lead.
Erie added to the lead in the top of the fifth inning against reliever Fabio Castillo. Eugenio Suarez hit a lead off double to center field and scored on a Ramon Cabrera single to right field to make the score 6-0.
Davies pitched four innings and allowed five runs on five hits and two walks in the loss. Castillo pitched three innings in relief and allowed one run on three hits while striking out three and walking one. Ashur Tolliver pitched a 1-2-3 eighth inning for the Baysox. Reliever Oliver Drake pitched a scoreless ninth inning for the Baysox, allowing one hit and walking one.
Erie starter Kyle Ryan pitched seven shutout innings, allowing just two hits and four walks while striking out two in the win.
LHP Jake Pettit (1-1, 6.89) takes the mound for the Baysox Thursday as the team plays the final game in a four game home series with the Erie SeaWolves. He will be opposed by RHP Wilsen Palacios (1-1, 7.50).
The Baysox are home through Thursday, April 24 for an eight-day, seven-game homestand against Akron and Erie. The homestand concludes with a Day Game Thursday, April 24 beginning at 11:05 a.m. The Baysox then depart for a seven game road trip in Harrisburg and Richmond.
