Erie SeaWolves News Release
A rain-shortened game didn't change much for Erie as the Senators extended their winning streak to five with an 8-2 victory over the SeaWolves.
The Senators got to Erie starter Matt Crouse right off the bat. Josh Johnson, returning to the lineup after battling the flu, hit a solo homer that was followed later in the inning by a two run double from Justin Bloxom to give Harrisburg an early 3-0 lead. Another solo homerun by Jeff Howell in the second made it 4-0 Senators.
Erie responded in the home half of the second. James Robbins reached on a throwing error from shortstop Johnson and moved to third on a Luis Castillo single that extended the outfielder's hitting streak to four games. Marcus Lemon tallied the RBI on a force out to make it 4-1 Senators. In the third, Jamie Johnson's lead off single led to him scoring on a double play after moving to third on a steal and a single.
With Harrisburg up 4-2, the Senators added insurance in each of the game's remaining three innings. In the fourth, Dustin Hood's solo shot gave the Senators six runs.
In the fifth, a single and walk with one out ended the day for Crouse and Tyler Clark came in to the game. Hood added two more RBI to his game total, this time driving in two Senators off a double to make it 7-2 Harrisburg.
The final run was charged to Clark in the sixth, after Anthony Rendon brought a Ricky Hague home on a sacrifice fly.
With the score 8-2, rain began to fall with two out in the Harrisburg half of the seventh, resulting in a delay that eventually led to a called game.
Harrisburg starter Caleb Clay finished with the complete game win, tossing six innings while only allowing two runs on five hits. Clark's two and a third innings of work was his longest outing of the season.
The SeaWolves and Senators resume their four game series with back-to-back 11:05 a.m. start times as Jerry Uht Park celebrates UPMC Health Plan Education Days.
