Orange County Flyers News Release

The Victoria Seals edged Orange County to hand the Flyers their first loss of the season, 8-6, at Royal Athletic Park on Thursday. The Flyers left 14 runners on base while committing four errors, three in a three-run seventh inning for Victoria.

The Seals leaped ahead on a two-run double by former Flyer Brian Rios in the three-run seventh inning.

Even with the miscues and leaving the bases loaded twice, Orange County (4-1) still had a chance to tie the game in the top of the ninth. Trailing by three with one out, Tyler Keeble reached base on an error and Kylee Hash singled him to second. Sergio Pedroza knocked a pinch-hit double to score Keeble and put the tying run in scoring position. Pedroza's double was the only extra base hit in the Flyers 13 hits.

The Seals struck first with three runs in the bottom of the first inning, highlighted a two-run homerun by Terrance McClain.

Orange County tied the game with a four-run fourth inning. Trailing 4-0, David Harris and Tyler led off the inning with back-to-back singles before an error by Seals' shortstop Eric Pringle scored Harris. Two batters later, Steve Boggs singled home Keeble while an error on the play cashed Hash. One batter later, Jimmy Rohan drove in Boggs. Rohan had his third four-hit game of the year, going 4-for-6 on the night.

The Flyers captured the lead, 5-4, in the seventh inning when David Harris scored on a Kylee Hash sacrifice fly.
