BILOXI, MS - Jeremy Duchesne stopped 33 shots, including a 2nd period penalty shot to preserve a lead, as the Mississippi Sea Wolves defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators 2-0 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Wednesday night.

Mississippi got on the board at 3:35 of the second period when Jason Tejchma bounced a shot off of the left goalpost and Kyle McAllister was there to bang the loose puck past Gwinnett goaltender Kevin Nastiuk.

At 8:54 of the second, Gwinnett's Pat Bateman was awarded a penalty shot after being hauled down as he drove the net from the right wing. Sea Wolves goaltender Jeremy Duchesne matched Bateman's speed and denied his forehand attempt on the penalty shot with the right pad to preserve the Sea Wolves 1-0 lead.

Chris Brooks' second goal of the year at 15:53 of the third period gave the Sea Wolves a two-goal cushion, as his one-timer on a pass from Mike Berry was deflected and skipped past Nastiuk.

Jeremy Duchesne made 33 saves, including 14 in the third period, to earn his second win of the season, and Mississippi was 1-for-8 on the power play.

Friday, December 12 @ Gwinnett, 4-2 W

DULUTH, GA - Two goals and two assists from rookie forward Ryan Cruthers powered the Sea Wolves offense to a 4-2 victory over the Gwinnett Gladiators at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Friday night.

Ryan Cruthers' 12th goal of the season ended half a game of scorelessness at 10:43 of the second period when he broke down the slot and snuck a puck underneath Gladiators' netminder Kevin Nastiuk to give the Sea Wolves a 1-0 lead. Cruthers' extended the Mississippi lead to two when he hammered home the rebound of Bill LeClerc's shot from the left point at 13:15. Brandon Kaleniecki got Gwinnett on the board when his wrist shot from the left wing beat Sea Wolves goalie Riku Helenius on the long side at 18:47 of the second.

Ryan Menei restored Mississippi's two-goal lead at 3:21 of the third when he broke down the right wing and popped the puck over a sliding Nastiuk for his second goal of the year. Mike Berry's fourth goal of the season on a feed from Cruthers gave the Sea Wolves a 4-1 lead at 8:47 of the third. Just eight seconds later, Gwinnett's Jordan Fox broke into the zone and put the puck under Helenius for his ninth goal of the season, but Gwinnett was unable to muster any further offense as the Sea Wolves held on for the 4-2 victory.

Riku Helenius made 49 saves in his Mississippi debut to earn the win, and the Sea Wolves were 1-for -3 on the power play, while managing to kill off all seven Gladiators man-advantages.

Saturday, December 13, 2008 vs. Gwinnett, 4-2 W

BILOXI, MS - Jeremy Duchesne's 60 saves eclipsed a Sea Wolves team record that stood for over 10 years as Mississippi defeated the Gwinnett Gladiators by the score of 4-2 at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum on Saturday.

Jeremy Hall got the Sea Wolves on the board just 41 seconds into the game when his wrist shot beat Gwinnett goalie Josh Johnson up high. Ryan Cruthers followed up the rebound of Alexandre Parent's shot from the left wing for his 14th goal of the season at 4:27 of the first period to give the Sea Wolves a 2-0 lead. Jordan Fox got the Gladiators on the board when he found the rebound of Dan Sullivan's shot on the power play and beat Duchesne to the stick side. Mathieu Melanson's 10th goal of the season gave the Sea Wolves back their two-goal lead at 13:44 of the first.

Mike Berry scored his second goal in as many games when he hammered home a centering pass from Ryan Cruthers at 9:25 of the second.

Myles Stoesz scored his first goal of the year on a penalty shot at 10:42 of the third period, but that was as close as Gwinnett would come, as Duchesne made 19 saves through the third period to preserve the lead.

In all, Duchesne made 19 saves in the first period, 22 in the second, and 19 in the third for a total of 60 saves that broke the record of 59 set by Brad Guzda on March 28, 1998 in a 6-2 win at Pensacola.
