Checkers Murphy Loaned to Monarchs

Charlotte, N.C. - The Charlotte Checkers announced today that forward Ryan Murphy has been loaned to the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League.

Murphy, 5-foot-11, 185 pounds, dressed in 24 games for the Checkers this season registering two goals and nine assists for 11 points with 26 penalty minutes. Last season, Murphy played in 37 games for Charlotte scoring eight goals and 20 assists for 28 points with 14 penalty minutes. He also received two call-ups to the AHL last year going to the Hartford Wolf Pack (nine games played with one assist) and Peoria Rivermen (10 games played with zero points). The Rumson, N.J. native was a 6th round draft pick of the Los Angeles Kings during the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. The Boston College product played parts of three seasons with Manchester from 2004 thru 2007.

The Checkers are playing their 16th season of play as a member of the ECHL. The next home game will take place Dec. 17th night against the Elmira Jackals at 7 p.m. start. In the team's 15-year history, the Checkers have made the playoffs 11 times including four consecutive playoff appearances to date.
