
Sea Wolves Rally Past Ice Pilots, 3-2

BILOXI, Miss. â In front of a season-high crowd of 5,063, the Mississippi Sea Wolves knocked off Pensacola, 3-2 and pulled into a tie for first place in the Southwest Division with Louisiana.
Pensacola (31-20-6) opened the score on the power play at 17:21. Kerry Ellis-Toddington ripped a shot from the right circle past Greg Gardner. Trevor Allman and Kevin Cloutier picked up assists on Ellis-Toddington's 7th of the year.
In the second period, the Ice Pilots converted on the man advantage again. Gregor Baumgartner took a pass from Greg Pankewicz and found the net from the left circle at 8:28, making it 2-0 for Pensacola. The goal was Baumgartner's 26th of the campaign.
Mississippi (34-20-4) started its comeback at 9:27. Derrick Byfuglien sent a right point shot past Maxime Gingras, to cut the Pensacola lead to 2-1. The goal for Byfuglien was his second of the season.
The Sea Wolves tied the game, 1:18 later. John Evangelista guided a backhand shot behind Gingras. It was Evangelista's eighth of the year.
In the third, Mississippi rookie Mike Scott darted in from the left wing and notched his 18th of the season, which would also be the game-winner at 2:24.
Gardner turned away 35-of-37 shots, raising his record to 25-14-4. Gingras allowed three goals on 34 shots, dropping to 22-16-6.
Mississippi failed to connect on five opportunities with the man advantage. Pensacola went 2-for-9 on the power play.
Following the game, the Sea Wolves auctioned off their special game-worn jerseys to benefit two pediatric chartities, Caps for Kids and Candlelighters. The âFaceoff against Kids Cancer' postgame party and jersey auction was held at Grand Casino Biloxi.
Mississippi's next game is at home on Friday at 7:35 p.m. against the Baton Rouge Kingfish at the Mississippi Coast Coliseum.
