BILOXI, MS - The Mississippi Sea Wolves and their fans helped raise more than $100,000 for various charitable causes during the 2007-08 season. The Sea Wolves' single biggest fundraiser, the "Pink in the Rink" game against the Pensacola Ice Pilots on November 17, raised nearly $22,000 for the Mississippi Sea Wolves Special Needs Patient Fund at Memorial Hospital at Gulfport. This fund makes it possible for women who cannot afford proper breast cancer screening to acquire the best possible treatment at Memorial Hospital in Gulfport.

"We feel a responsibility to do our part to support the South Mississippi community," said Sea Wolves president Bill Yates. "Whether it is monetarily or from a volunteer standpoint, we should all make an effort to support our neighbors and friends in need."

The Boys and Girls Clubs of the Gulf Coast received nearly $5,000 through the Saves for Kids Program in conjunction with The People's Bank. The Gulf Coast University of Southern Mississippi Alumni Association raised over $20,000 through the auction of special Sea Wolves USM game jerseys that were worn at the final home game of the season on April 4 against the Pensacola Ice Pilots. These funds have been applied toward scholarship programs offered by the alumni group.

In March of 2008, the Hockey and Sake fundraiser at Jia Restaurant in the Beau Rivage Hotel, Casino, and Spa raised more than $5,000 for the Mississippi Sea Wolves Foundation that will be used to create summer activity programs for children on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

On Easter weekend, the wives of the Sea Wolves players hosted the first ever Pucks for Preemies fundraiser to benefit the Memorial Hospital at Gulfport's neonatal intensive care unit.

Additionally, Sea Wolves players, Ice Girls and staff volunteered more than 300 hours for local community events and the team also donated nearly $15,000 in merchandise for charity auctions and other fundraising events all over the coast.

Sea Wolves fans became involved as well. Season ticket holders Bobbie and Jake Jacobson pledged $1 per player for every win that the Sea Wolves had this season. At the end of the year, they allowed the players to select the beneficiaries. The Jacobson's wrote checks for $300 to the South Mississippi In-Line Hockey League and to the Gulf Coast Council of Boy Scouts in honor of the Mississippi Sea Wolves players.
