
Sea Dogs Win Battle of Home Run Derby in Hartford

Hartford, CT - The Hartford Yard Goats and Portland Sea Dogs combined to hit seven home runs on Wednesday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park. Red Sox top prospect Triston Casas had four hits, cranked two homers and drove in six runs leading the Sea Dogs to a 14-3 victory against the Yard Goats. Casey Golden and Taylor Snyder smashed a pair of solo homers for the Yard Goats in the second game of a six-game series.
The Sea Dogs began the scoring with two runs in the first inning and two more in the second highlighted by a homer by Roldani Baldwin. Casas hit his first of two long balls in the fourth inning sending one into the second deck in right centerfield, his first in Double-A, giving Portland a 5-0 lead off Hartford starting pitcher Will Gaddis. The Yard Goats got their first hit, a Casey Golden home run in the fourth inning, to make it a 5-1 game off Sea Dogs starter Josh Winckowski. It was Golden's second straight home run game.
The score was 5-1 heading to the sixth inning when the Sea Dogs added three more runs on Triston Casas second homer in consecutive at-bats. Portland batted around and scored six times in the seventh inning, including back-to-back homers by Johan Mieses and Joey Meneses.
The Yard Goats hit the final home run of the night, a solo shot by Taylor Snyder in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Yard Goats continue their first homestand on Thursday night (7:05 PM) against the Boston Red Sox affiliate, the Portland Sea Dogs. The game will be broadcast on AM 1410 WPOP and FM 100.9FM and newsradio1410.iheart.com.
