Sea Dogs Trade Ouellet To Cataractes

SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Director of Hockey Operations Mike Kelly announced today that the team has dealt veteran forward Olivier Ouellet to the Shawinigan Cataractes.

The Sea Dogs obtain a fifth round pick at the 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft as well as a conditional 2011 draft selection in exchange for Ouellet's major junior rights. Shawinigan also receives a sixth round pick in 2010 as part of the trade.

A native of Drummondville, QC, Ouellet has appeared in 149 games in the QMJHL for Chicoutimi and Saint John. The 5'8", 173 lb. winger has registered 37G-50A-87P thus far in his career. Ouellet, 19, took a leave of absence from the Sea Dogs on November 19, citing personal reasons.

Currently ranked first in the QMJHL with a record of 31-6-1-0, the Sea Dogs kick off their second-half schedule on Sunday, December 27 on the road versus the Acadie-Bathurst Titan (puck drop: 4pm). Saint John's next home game is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, December 29 at 7pm versus the P.E.I. Rocket.
