BINGHAMTON, NY - The Binghamton Mets gave up a walk-off double to Jonathan Roof in the bottom of the ninth inning and fell to the Portland Sea Dogs, 4-3, on Tuesday night at Hadlock Field. Dilson Herrera went 3-for-4 and was a double shy of the cycle in the loss. The B-Mets have lost seven straight at Hadlock Field.

The Sea Dogs broke a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the ninth inning. Blake Swihart worked a one-out single against Jon Velasquez. That brought Jonathan Roof to the plate with one out. He smacked a walk-off double off the Maine Monster in left field to win the game for Portland, 4-3.

Binghamton got on the board first in the top of the third inning against Luis Diaz. Travis Taijeron singled to start the rally. After the next two batters got out, Herrera singled to put two one with two outs. Brian Burgamy worked a walk to load the bases. With Dustin Lawley at the plate, Diaz tossed a wild pitch in the dirt, Taijeron scored and the B-Mets led 1-0.

Sean Coyle singled to put a runner on with one out. Two batters later, Stefan Welch singled to right field. Shannon Wilkerson brought them home with a base knock and Portland took a 3-1 lead.

The B-Mets responded right away. Taijeron smashed a solo home run more than 400 feet to straight away center field. With two outs, Herrera hit a shot over the Maine Monster in left field to knot the game at three.

Pete Ruiz (2-0) went allowed just one hit over two scoreless innings. Velasquez (4-3) went 1-2/3 innings and allowed just one run. Neither starter factored in the decision.
