
Fox's 6 RBI night carries Reading to win in Erie

The Reading Fightin Phils (42-58) rallied behind Jake Fox's 6 RBI evening and Chris Bootcheck's seven inning performance to get a 9-3 win over the Erie SeaWolves (49-54). The win was the first against Erie this season.
For the third straight game Jake Fox gave the Fightin Phils a lead in the first inning as he hit a RBI single in the top of the 1st inning against Kyle Ryan to give Reading a 1-0 lead. Steven Moya of the SeaWolves quickly gave Erie a 2-1 lead in the bottom of the 1st inning as he hit a two-run home run off Chris Bootcheck.
The Fightin Phils stormed back in the top of the 3rd inning as they scored four runs to take a 5-2 lead off Kyle Ryan and the SeaWolves. Albert Cartwright hit a RBI double to score Edgar Duran and Kelly Dugan followed with a RBI single to score Cartwright. Jake Fox capped off the inning with a two-run home run to score Dugan. The home run for Fox was his twelfth of the season.
Aaron Westlake hit a solo home run off Chris Bootcheck in the bottom of the 5th inning to cut the Fightins lead to 5-3. Peter Lavin extended the Fightins lead to 6-3 in the top of the 8th inning as he hit a RBI double off reliever Bryan Augenstein to score Brock Stassi.
Reading extended their lead to 9-3 in the top of the 9th inning off reliever Bryan Augenstein as Jake Fox hit a three-run home run. After Albert Cartwright led off the inning with a double, Carlos Alonso popped out to second-base which ignited Kelly Dugan to be intentionally walked to bring up Jake Fox.
Chris Bootcheck (2-2) earned the win after pitching seven strong innings as he allowed three runs off five hits with three walks and five strikeouts. Seth Rosin and Nefi Ogando pitched scoreless innings in relief.
The Fightin Phils and Erie SeaWolves wrap up their three-game series tomorrow afternoon at Jerry Uht Park. First pitch is scheduled for 12:05 pm.
