SAINT JOHN, NB --- Saint John Sea Dogs Head Coach/General Manager Jacques Beaulieu announced today that the team has signed free agent left winger Alexei Dostoinov.

"Alexei is a very skilled forward with tremendous offensive abilities and we're looking forward to getting him into our line-up," said Beaulieu.

Born in Moscow, Russia on July 17, 1989, Dostoinov owns an American passport and is thus not considered a CHL import player. The 6'1", 190 lb. winger played 36 games with the Ontario Hockey League Champion Kitchener Rangers in 2007-08, registering 6G-8A14P in 36GP on the season. He also skated at the 2007 ADT Canada-Russia Challenge as a member of the Russian Selects National Team, appearing in four of the six games in the series.

Dostoinov played parts of two seasons in the United States Hockey League, registering 8G-15A-23P-30PIM in 46 games with the Ohio Junior Blue Jackets and Sioux Falls Stampede. The 19-year old was released by Kitchener on Thursday after skating in five games this season for the Rangers (0G-0A-0P).

The Sea Dogs' next home game is scheduled to take place on Thursday night versus the Chicoutimi Sagueneens. Pro-rated season tickets to Saint John's 2008-2009 campaign will be available until October 31.
