
Sea Dogs Select 13 Players at 2010 QMJHL Entry Draft

DRUMMONDVILLE, QC --- The 2010 edition of the QMJHL Entry Draft took place at the Marcel Dionne Centre on Saturday, with the reigning regular season champion Saint John Sea Dogs selecting 13 major junior prospects over the course of the twelve-round talent-acquisition session.
In round number one, Saint John selected Port City native Ryan Tesink (5'11", 160 lbs.) with the 18th overall pick. The 17-year-old left winger spent the 2009-10 season with the Woodstock Slammers of the MJAHL where he tallied 10G-19A-29P in 44 games played. In the Kent Cup Playoffs, Tesink registered 4G-6A-10P in 14 appearances during the Slammers' run to a league title.
Saint John owned two selections in round number three and used them to acquire defenseman Guillaume Cloutier (44th Overall) and forward Devon Oliver-Dares (54th Overall). Cloutier (6'1", 160 lbs.) skated with C.C. Lemoyne (QCMAAA) last season, registering 7G-15A-22P in 42 games played. Oliver-Dares (5'10", 175 lbs.), meanwhile, recorded 18G-22A-40P-36PIM in 30 games played with the Dartmouth Subways (NSMMHL).
With the first pick of the fourth round, the Sea Dogs selected Quebec Cyclones blue-liner Benjamin Hade (5'11", 159 lbs.) prior to taking Saint Francois Blizzard net minder Sébastien Auger (5'9", 137 lbs.) in round number five (74th overall). Auger went 14-6 in the QCMAAA last year while posting a G.A.A. of 2.74 and a SV% of 0.910.
Summerside Western Capitals forward Jason Cameron (5'11", 175 lbs.) was Saint John's sixth pick of the day (6th Round, 91st Overall). Cameron tallied 47GP-10G-7A-17P-21PIM in the MJAHL during the 09-10 campaign. New Hampshire Monarchs goalie Chris Eiserman (6'2", 200 lbs.) was then chosen in round number seven (120th Overall). Eiserman went 14-4 with a 3.35 G.A.A. and a 0.901 SV% in the EJHL last year.
In the eighth round, the Sea Dogs selected Cape Breton Tradesmen forward Brock Morrison (5'10", 161 lbs.) with the 128th pick of the draft. Morrison netted 30 goals and dished out 31 assists for 61 points in the NSMMHL last year, finishing third on his team in scoring in the process. Also in round number eight, Saint John acquired Saint Francois Blizzard rearguard Anthony St-Onge-Dostie (6'0", 167 lbs.). In 38 games played in the QCMAAA last year, St-Onge-Dostie registered 2G-10A-12P-22PIM.
Cape Breton Tradeseman forward Colin Campbell (5'9", 162 lbs.) was the Sea Dogs' next selection (9th Round, 151st Overall). Campbell registered 30G-38A-68P in 35 games played in the NSMMHL in 2009-10. Eleven picks later, Saint John wrapped up round nine by choosing NB-PEI MMHL rearguard Alex Simpson (6'4", 167 lbs.). As a member of the Saint John AAA Vito's last season, Simpson tallied 34GP-1G-5A-6P-24PIM.
With their final two picks of the '10 entry draft, Saint John selected defenseman Michael Paliotta (6'0", 170 lbs.) from the United States National Team Development Program and forward Jason Thorpe (6'1", 183 lbs.) from the AAA Vito's. Thorpe recorded 1G-6A-7P-27PIM in 19 NB-PEI MMHL appearances last season.
