NEWS AND NOTES

STAYING WITH THE WEST : The Sea Dogs return home after a 3-3 roadtrip to Bowie and Richmond, and open up a six-game homestand on Tuesday night against the Akron RubberDucks (Indians affiliate) at Hadlock Field...Portland took two of three from Akron at Canal Park on June 13-15, including a win from tonight's starter LHP Brian Johnson...Portland's magic number is six to clinch a playoff spot, and they hold a two-game lead over the Binghamton Mets for the top spot in the Eastern Division.

NO SUNDAY FUN DAY : Portland was shutout 6-0 at Richmond on Sunday afternoon, and dropped two of three in the series to the Flying Squirrels...The game was scoreless until Richmond's part of the seventh, as they scored four times off losing pitcher Dayan Diaz (1-1)...Elliot Blair knocked home four runs in Richmond's final two turns, clearing the bases with a double in the seventh...LHP Steven O'Kert tossed two scoreless in relief, earning his first win of the season...RF Ryan Dent collected two of Portland's six hits - the 'Dogs stranded 11 and went 0-for-9 with runners-in-scoring position.
