Baseball's Top Prospect OF Byron Buxton Promoted to Rock Cats

New Britain, CT- The New Britain Rock Cats Baseball Club, the Double-A Eastern League Affiliate of the Minnesota Twins, has announced baseball's top prospect, Outfielder Byron Buxton has been promoted to New Britain today. Buxton will join the Rock Cats for the first time in the Eastern League along with infielder Levi Michael and right-handed pitcher Jason Adam. All three will be in uniform for tonight's game against Bowie at New Britain Stadium. Corresponding moves will be made prior to tonight's game to make room for the three players. Tonight's game will be televised live on CPTV Sports.

Buxton, 20, was the second overall pick in the 2012 draft out of Appling County High School in Georgia and is ranked as the top prospect in baseball by scouting magazine Baseball America. He has been promoted from Class-A Ft. Myers. Buxton batted .301 with 21 home runs, 113 RBI and 72 stolen bases in 203 career games in three years in the Twins system.

Michael, 23, the Twins #1 pick in 2011 joins the Rock Cats after getting promoted from Class-A F. Myers. He batted .305 with 10 doubles, two triples and 23 RBI in 50 games at Ft. Myers.

Adam, 23, pitched in 27 games (18 starts) between Double-A Northwest Arkansas and Triple-A Omaha, going 5-9 with a 4.67 ERA with 34 walks and 100 strikeouts. He was selected by the Royals in the 5 th round (2010).
