SAINT JOHN, NB --- On the strength of an impressive 32-save performance by star goaltender Olivier Roy, the Cape Breton Screaming Eagles defeated the Saint John Sea Dogs by a score of 4-2 at Harbour Station on Sunday afternoon.

The Screaming Eagles scored three times in the final eight minutes of play to earn the come-from-behind victory, their first of the season versus the league-leading Sea Dogs.

Will Johnston and Jonathan Huberdeau both scored for Saint John in a losing effort, while Luke Adam, Nick MacNeil, Jacob Legacé, and Kalin Paul each tallied markers for Cape Breton.

Despite playing well throughout the duration of the match, 19-year old net minder Karel St-Laurent (33 saves) suffered the fourth defeat of his sophomore campaign between the pipes for the Sea Dogs. The Ville St-Catherine, QC native is now 23-10 in his major junior career.

Rugged winger Will Johnston opened the scoring on Sunday, banging home his first career QMJHL goal on a juicy rebound 7:11 into the game. Freshman forward Jonathan Huberdeau then buried his 13th goal of the year four-and-a-half minutes later, digging the puck out from a scrum and firing a low shot to the back of Cape Breton's net to give Saint John a 2-0 lead.

A pair of Buffalo Sabres prospects then joined forces to reduce the visitors' deficit to one late in the opening frame, with Luke Adam beating St-Laurent on a nifty backhand shot after being set up all alone in front of the Sea Dogs' net compliments of an incredibly-fluid steal-and-pass play by veteran winger Jacob Legacé.

Neither team managed to add to their respective goal totals during an overtly-physical second period, as Sunday afternoon's showdown reached the forty minute mark with the home team on top 2-1.

A long-range wrist shot off the stick of defenseman Kalin Paul tied things up at two apiece 12:50 into period number three, with Jacob Legacé striking in transition during a Sea Dogs power play 1:24 later to give Cape Breton their first lead of the day.

Saint John vehemently pursued the equalizer in the late-going, but some strong defensive play by their opponents negated the hosts' ability to pull even on the scoreboard. An empty net goal by Nick MacNeil sealed the deal for the Screaming Eagles, who salvage a split of their weekend series with the top-ranked team in the CHL by virtue of Sunday's comeback win.

Up next for the Sea Dogs is a Wednesday night matchup with the Mooseheads at the Halifax Metro Centre. The puck drops at 7pm as Saint John looks to pick up two points at the expense of their divisional adversaries.
