SAINT JOHN - The Saint John Sea Dogs have acquired goaltender Callum Booth from the Quebec Remparts in a multi-player deal announced today.

Along with Booth, the Sea Dogs added 17-year-old winger Matthew Pietroniro in exchange for goaltender Alex Bishop, forward Olivier Mathieu, a 2017 first round pick and a 2019 third round pick.

Booth, 19, played 21 games in his fourth season with Quebec, posting a record of 13-6-1-1 with a 2.87 goals-against average and a .918 save percentage. The Montreal-native also recorded a 16-save shutout for Team QMJHL in the second game of the CIBC Canada Russia Series in November.

In 126 regular season games, Booth compiled a record of 63-39-8-4, with a 2.99 goals-against average and a .906 save percentage. He's also played in five playoff games, and one game at the 2015 MasterCard Memorial Cup, which was in Quebec. He was a third-round pick (52nd overall) of the Remparts in the 2013 QMJHL Entry Draft.

Listed at 6'3" and 187 lbs., he was selected by the Carolina Hurricanes in the fourth round (93rd overall) of the 2015 NHL Draft.

Pietroniro, 17, is in his second season with the Lac St-Louis Lions of the Quebec Midget AAA Hockey League (LHMAAAQ). The native of Ste-Anne-de-Bellvue, Quebec, has eight goals, 17 points and 50 penalty minutes in 22 games.

Listed at 6'1" and 209 lbs., he was selected by the Remparts in the eighth round (137th overall) of the 2015 QMJHL Entry Draft. He is expected to stay with Lac St-Louis for the remainder of the season.

"We are very excited to bring two high-quality young men into our organization," said Trevor Georgie, the president and general manager of the Sea Dogs. "Booth is a player we have coveted for a while. We believe he's one of the top goaltenders in the QMJHL. He's got a lot of experience. He's played in the playoffs and in the MasterCard Memorial Cup. We are confident he can be a mentor for our young goalie, Alex D'Orio, and be a leader on and off the ice for our team."

Georgie continued: "Pietroniro is a rugged, two-way player who we see fitting well on our team in the years ahead. He's a young man of high character and determination, and we like him a lot."

Bishop, 19, played parts of three seasons with Saint John, posting a 29-19-4-2 record in 61 regular season games. He was signed as a free agent by the Sea Dogs in 2014.

Mathieu, 16, recorded one assist in seven games with the Sea Dogs this season, but has spent most of the year with the Magog Cantonniers (LHMAAAQ). He was selected by Saint John in the first round (11th overall) of the 2016 QMJHL Entry Draft.

"Alex Bishop is terrific young man who performed admirably here for three years," Georgie said. "And Olivier Mathieu has a very bright future ahead of him. We wish both of them the best of luck with the Remparts."

Booth is expected to join the Sea Dogs when the club returns from its holiday break on Tuesday, December 27th. He is expected to be in the lineup when Saint John take on the Acadie-Bathurst Titan on Wednesday, December 28th, at 7 p.m. at KC Irving Regional Centre.

Holiday Flex Packs [http://sjseadogs.com/holidaypack] are also on sale now at the Harbour Station Box Office and the gift shop at Saint John Regional Hospital until Christmas Eve.
