Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release
(State College, PA)-The Mahoning Valley Scrappers came into State College on Thursday night looking to extend their season long winning streak to three game. A five run seventh inning would help secure a 7-4 win over the State College Spikes to extend the winning streak.
The Scrappers took the early lead in the top of the third inning. With one out Gabriel Mejia reached on a throwing error. He would then come around to score when Silento Sayles followed with an RBI triple to center. Sayles would also come in to score on a wild pitch for the 2-0 lead.
Scrappers' starter Triston McKenzie would make sure that once he had the lead, he wasn't going to give it back. McKenzie worked four innings while getting in and out of jams each inning. He left the bases loaded the first and fourth innings and stranded two runners on base in both the second and third innings. McKenzie stranded a total of 10 runners on base to drop his New York Penn League leading ERA to 0.28.

Yonathan Mendoza, assigned to Mahoning Valley before the game from Lake County, would then clear the bases with a three run triple. Nate Winfrey capped the scoring with an RBI single to push the Scrappers lead out to 7-0.
State College would rally with single runs in the seventh and eighth innings before getting two runs in the ninth inning. The Spikes would get the tying run to the plate, but Devon Stewart would get a fly out to leftfield to end the game and secure the 7-4 win.
