
Scrappers earn a split in Jamestown

Evan Frazar blasted a grand slam in the of the 3rd inning before the rain fell to suspend Thursday nights game in the 4th inning. When the game resumed on Friday the Scrappers saw their lead expand to 7-3. But a 6 run 8th inning for the Jamestown Jammers was too much to overcome as the Mahoning Valley Scrappers fell by a final of 9-7.Frazar got the scoring started in the 1st inning when he walked with the bases loaded and 2 outs. Evan then came to the plate with 1 out and the Scrappers trailing 3-1 in the top of the 3rd inning. He launched a 3-1 fastball deep over the leftfield fence for the grand slam and his 5th RBI of the game. The Scrappers added another run to make it 6-3 before play was suspended for the night.
When play resumed Friday afternoon the Scrappers added another run to their lead in the 6th inning when Joe Wendle doubled home Robel Garcia.
Nick Pasquale replaced orginial starter Geoff Davenport to resume the game. Pasquale worked 4 innings allowing 4 hits and 3 runs. He gave way to Jack Wagoner with no outs and a runner at 2nd. Wagoner was unable to hold the lead. He allowed 3 runs as well to take the loss. With the loss Wagoner's record falls to 1-3.
In the regularly scheduled game Juan Romero kick started the offense in the 2nd inning when he launched his 6th homerun of the season; a 2 run shot to left centerfield. That was all the Scrappers needed to pick up the 2-1 win.
Jacob Lee made his first start of the season for the Scrappers and became their first pitcher to win his 4th game. Lee was beyond dominating for the 5 innings he pitched. Lee did not allow a hit, run or a walk while striking out 5. Rafeal Homblert worked the 7th inning to pick up his 1st save of the year.
