Mahoning Valley Scrappers News Release

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers continue to battle through a difficult road trip. With a 2-1 lead entering the bottom of the 7th inning in game one of a double header, they were unable to close out the game and fell by a 3-2 final to the Hudson Valley Renegades. Jake Sisco started for the Scrappers and was almost unhittable. He worked 6 innings and allowed only 1 unearned run on just 3 hits. He walked 3 and struck out 4. Sisco used his fastball and breaking ball to keep the Renegades off balance all game. Cody Penny took over in the top of the 7th. After a leadoff base hit by Ryan Dunn, pinch hitter Tommy Coyle walked to put the tying and winning runs on base. A sacrifice bunt from Joel Caminero put both runners in scoring position. Leonardo Reginatto then sent the first pitch he saw past the drawn in infield to plate both runners for the walk off win.

The offense spark for the Scrappers came from Joe Sever. Sever finished the day 2-3. He doubled in the 3rd inning and advanced to 3rd when the right fielder couldn't pick the ball up cleanly. He then scored on Charlie Valerio's groundball. The RBI was Valerio's team leading 18th. The Scrappers grabbed the lead in the top of the 7th when Evan Frazar blasted his first homerun of the season on a 1-0 fastball.

The Scrappers will take to the field again this afternoon when they complete the double header with Hudson Valley. First pitch is scheduled for 4:05. The next game at Eastwood Field will be July 17th. Call the Scrappers box office at 330-505-0000 to get your tickets.
