-SPIKES LOOK TO TAKE LAST ONE AGAINST BROOKLYN: The State College Spikes face the Brooklyn Cyclones in the final game of a three-game series at Medlar FIeld at Lubrano Park tonight. State College started the six-game homestand by sweeping three straight from the Staten Island Yankees, but Brooklyn has taken two in a row from the Spikes over the last two nights. Brooklyn holds the all-time series lead, 15-5, and an 9-2 edge in games at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

-LAST GAME: Barrett Barnes blasted his first home run at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park as a Spike, but State College fell to the Brooklyn Cyclones last night, 3-2. Barnes now has a total of three home runs on the year to lead the Spikes. Jacob Stallings and Jodaneli Carvajal both doubled while Samuel Gonzalez reached base three times. Jason Creasy took the loss for State College despite going five innings for the third straight start. The game was delayed 1 hour, 59 minutes at the start by rain.

-SAMPSON MAKES FIRST HOME START FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Adrian Sampson gets the start for State College on the mound this evening. Sampson, the fifth-round choice of the Pirates in the 2012 MLB Draft, has made three appearances, but will start a game at Medlar FIeld at Lubrano Park for the first time after three scoreless innings against Staten Island on Wednesday. The Sammamish, WA native went 11-0 with a 1.36 ERA and 107 strikeouts in 79 1/3 innings this spring for Bellevue (WA) Community College.

-ROBLES ROUNDS OUT ROTATION FOR CYCLONES : Right-hander Hansel Robles is slated to start for Brooklyn tonight. Robles is in his fourth year in the Mets system after signing as a free agent out of the Dominican Republic in 2008, and pitched for Kingsport in the Appalachian League last year. The righty allowed one run on three hits and a walk while striking out seven over 5 1/3 innings in a no-decision against Jamestown last time out.

-SPIKES MOUND STAFFERS START STRONG: Jason Creasy, Clay Holmes, Luis Heredia, Jake Burnette and Joely Rodriguez each have at least one start of five innings or more with one earned run or less this year. Holmes, Heredia and Rodriguez hold the top three earned run averages in the Pittsburgh Pirates' system, and the team's 2.93 ERA is tops in the organization.

-SPIKE MARKS: Heredia's ERA of 1.13 now puts him in a tie for 2nd-best in the NYPL, while Holmes is 4th at 1.14...Holmes's .146 opponents' batting average is 2nd in the league behind only Brooklyn's Luis Mateo...Jordan Cooper has allowed 6.1 baserunners/9 IP to lead NYPL relievers
