Scrappers down Spinners, 3-2

Lowell, MA - The Mahoning Valley Scrappers won game one of a three-game series against the Lowell Spinners tonight 3-2 at LaLacheur Park. Clayton Ehlert entered the game in the bottom of the ninth inning with the bases loaded and one out with the Spinners having already scored a run to cut the lead to 3-2. The first batter Ehlert faced was Bryce Brentz and he got him to ground into a force out at home plate. He then got Jose Garcia to strike out looking to end the game. Ehlert's performance helped the Scrappers win and earned him his fourth save of the season. Kirk Wetmore recorded his second win of the season for the Scrappers coming in from the bullpen, pitching four innings, giving up one run on two hits and striking out five. Miguel Celestino suffered the loss for the Spinners lasting 5.1 innings, giving up two runs on five hits and striking out two. In his professional debut, Michael Goodnight got the start for the Scrappers and pitched three scoreless innings striking out three. The Scrappers will play game two of this three-game series against the Spinners tomorrow night.
