Defense Falters in Ninth, Jammers Fall out of First

JAMESTOWN, N.Y. - Three Jammers errors in the top of the ninth inning allowed the tying and winning runs to score in an 8-7 loss to the Vermont Lake Monsters.
Noah Perio misplayed a ground ball with one out in the inning to put runners on the corners. Two batters later, Dallas Poulk bobbled a ground ball and threw wide of first base, allowing both runs to score.
The Jammers threatened in the bottom of the ninth inning after Ryan Fisher tripled with one out. But Vermont reliever Ryan Demmin retired the next two batters to preserve the victory for the Lake Monsters.
The two teams traded the lead through the first three innings, with Jamestown leading 5-4 after the third. The Jammers got a run in the bottom of the sixth before the Lake Monsters tied the game with two runs in the top of the seventh.
Marcell Ozuna led off the bottom of the seventh with a home run to put Jamestown up 7-6 before the three-error ninth gave the Lake Monsters the win. The loss knocked the Jammers out of first place in the Pinckney Division after the Williamsport Crosscutters won earlier.
