September 3, 2011 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Jamestown Jammers News Release

The Mahoning Valley Scrappers' balanced attack was plenty to keep the Jamestown Jammers at bay as the Scrappers defeated the Jammers, 6-2, at Russell E. Diethrick, Jr. Park.

The Scrappers scored a pair of runs in the 4th, 5th, and 8th while holding the Jamestown Jammers to only 5 hits to earn the teams 40th win of the season and dropping the Jammers to 4 games under .500 at 35-39.

Newly assigned Jose Rodriguez took the loss despite only facing 10 batters in the first 3 innings. In the 4th a fielding error, 2 wild pitches, 2 walks, a hit-by-pitch, and a stolen base led to 2 runs for the Scrappers. They also put up another 2 spot in the 5th off of an Evan Frazar lead-off homerun and an Alex Lavisky RBI double.

Rodriguez ended his Jammer debut throwing 4-plus innings giving up 3 hits and 3 earned runs. The Scrappers tallied 2 more insurance runs in the 8th inning off of Blake Brewer from a bases loaded walk to Ryan Battaglia and an Evan Frazar single.

The Jammers were able to scratch one run off of Scrapper's starter Rob Nixon in the 3rd off of a solo homerun from designated hitter Kentrell Dewitt. Nixon finished throwing 5 innings giving up only 3 hits and striking out 6. The Jammers scored their 2nd run off an errant pick-off throw from Jack Wagoner allowing Marquise Cooper to score.

The Jammers round up the 2011 season Sunday afternoon at 1:05 against the Scrappers. The Jammers will be sending Dejai Oliver to the mound while opposing him will be Hector Rondon.
