Scott Suggs matches own season high in points with 29 in win

Raptors 905 guard Scott Suggs scored a game-high 29 points to lead the Mississauga club to a 108-104 win over the Erie BayHawks Saturday evening at Hershey Centre.

Erie jumped out to a 19-4 advantage in the first half of the opening quarter and led 30-16 heading into the second period. The BayHawks led by as many as 16 points early in the second frame before Raptors 905 stormed back, out-scoring Erie 35-18 in the final 10 minutes of the half to lead 53-52 at the break.

Raptors 905 began the third quarter with an 18-8 run to go up by 11 points, only to see the BayHawks battle back to get the game within one point, 82-81, heading into the fourth quarter. The final period saw four lead changes in the first two-and-a-half minutes before Raptors 905 pulled away for good, leading by as many as eight points in the quarter en route to the victory.

Leading Raptors 905 in points were Suggs (29), Davion Berry (22), Shannon Scott (19), Sim Bhullar (13) and Bruno Caboclo (10). Bhullar added 10 rebounds to complete a double-double. Scoring in double digits for the BayHawks were Keith Appling (28), Jordan Sibert (22), Aaron Bowen (15) and Nnanna Egwu (14). Appling also collected a game-high 11 rebounds and shared the game-high in assists (nine) with Raptors 905's Scott.

Raptors 905 led Erie in field goal percentage (49.3-41.4), three point percentage (38.7-29.4), and fast-break points (14-10), while the BayHawks held the advantage in free throw percentage (84.4-71.0), points in the paint (44-40) and second-chance points (23-11).

Raptors 905 is back in action Sunday, March 20 when the club visits the Maine Red Claws at 5 p.m.
