Prince Albert Raiders News Release
Prince Albert, SK - Ian Scott backstopped the Prince Albert Raiders (18-1-0-0) to a 2-0 shutout against the Medicine Hat Tigers (9-10-1-2) on Friday night at the Art Hauser Centre.
The Toronto Maple Leafs prospect stopped all 43 shots for his third clean sheet of the season and sixth of his career. The shutout extended the Raiders' winning streak to 11 games.
Scott and Mads Sogaard showed their skill in the first period. The two goaltenders kept their nets empty for the frame. Scott turned aside 12 shots in the period, while Sogaard made 14 saves.
In the second, the Raiders turned to their shorthanded unit to get on the board. Brett Leason poked a puck away at the blueline and won a race to the puck. The Raiders leading scorer snapped a shot past Sogaard to put the Raiders up 1-0 at the 8:58 mark of the period.
That margin held until midway through the third period. Noah Gregor dangled into the zone, but his attempt was turned aside. The play stayed in the Tigers' end. Kody McDonald fished the puck out of the corner to Gregor, who snapped it short-side on Sogaard to make it 2-0.
Scott closed out the period to preserve his shutout. He made 19 saves in the third period to keep the Tigers off the scoreboard.
At the other end of the ice, Sogaard stopped 31 shots for the Tigers.
The Raiders close out their five-game homestand on Friday night against the Tri-City Americans (12-6-0-0) as they make their biennial trip to the Art Hauser Centre. Tickets are available at the Raider Office and at raiderhockey.com. Game time is 7 p.m.
