Saskatoon Blades News Release

REGINA, SK - San Jose Sharks prospect Ozzy Wiesblatt scored a goal and an assist, Max Paddock stopped all 20 shots , and the Prince Albert Raiders defeated the Saskatoon Blades 4-0 on Thursday evening.

Saskatoon falls to 14-4-2-1 on the campaign, and remains tied for second in the East Division with their next opponent, the Winnipeg ICE, who they'll face on Friday. Despite the loss, they still earn a convincing 3-1 season series victory.

This was Prince Albert's first win over Saskatoon this season, having dropped the three previous contests. They improve to 8-10-2-1 on the year, and now sit tied for fourth with the Regina Pats.

Blades goaltender Nolan Maier stopped 27 of 31 shots in defeat, including 19 combined in the first two periods. After going scoreless on seven powerplay opportunities against Regina two nights prior, Saskatoon's man-advantage woes continued, failing to capitalize on four chances.

The Raiders also received goals from former first-round puck Terrell Goldsmith, defenseman Landon Kosior, and veteran winger Justin Nachbauer, however were unsuccessful on two powerplays.

As is the case most of the time when these two collide, there was no shortage of aggression and physicality through the game.

Blades 'Player to Watch' Pasha Bocharov dropped the gloves against Raiders winger Niall Crocker late in the second period after Spencer Shugrue of Saskatoon was run into the boards awkwardly.

With just under five minutes to play, Nachbaur earned himself a 10-minute misconduct after getting tied up with Blades captain Chase Wouters. Whistles often resulted in skirmishes between both teams that would last several minutes.

In total, the two teams combined for 42 penalty minutes.

Not much time for Saskatoon to dwell on their third straight loss, with their next battle coming in less than 24 hours against the Winnipeg ICE.
