Scoring Forward Sexton Assigned By Anaheim

BAKERSFIELD, Calif - The Bakersfield Condors have announced that F Dan Sexton has been reassigned to the team by the Anaheim Ducks from the San Antonio Rampage of the American Hockey League. The Condors roster now features 11 players on assignment by Anaheim. F Sal Peralta has also been released by the team.

Sexton, 22, joins the Condors after spending the beginning of the season with San Antonio of the American Hockey League. The 5-foot, 10-inch, 170-pound, Apple Valley, Minnesota, native completed his second season with Bowling Green State University in 2008-09, where he tied for fifth in the conference in goals (17) and tied for sixth in points (39) in 38 games. Sexton earned the team's Most Valuable Player award for his efforts. Following his sophomore year, Sexton signed a contract with Anaheim after being undrafted.

As a rookie with Bowling Green in 2007-08, Sexton ranked fifth on the team in points (7g-14a-21pts) while playing in 38 games. Prior to Bowling Green, he suited up for Sioux Falls of the United States Hockey League and guided them to a Clark Cup title in 2006-07, leading all players with eight goals in nine playoff games. That season, he was also a teammate of Condors defenseman Stu Bickel.

Weller Named Captain

LW Shawn Weller has been named captain of the Condors for the 2009-10 season. Weller, 23, made his Condors debut last Saturday, notching a hat trick in a 5-3 preseason win over Stockton. Weller, a 6-foot, 205-pound native of Glens Falls, New York, was acquired in the off-season by the Ducks in a trade with Ottawa, who drafted him in the 3rd round in 2006. At 6-2 and 205 pounds, Weller spent most of last season in the AHL with Binghamton, (70gp, 4g-5a-9pts) and also played briefly in the ECHL with Elmira (4gp, 1g-1a-2pts). He played three seasons at Clarkson University in the ECAC where he led his team in scoring in 2006-07.

The alternate captains for the 2009-10 season are LW Mathieu Aubin, D Stu Bickel, D Shaun Fisher, F Andrew Ianiero and D Eric Regan. The alternates will be rotated between the five players throughout the season.

Opening Night is TONIGHT!

The Condors are getting ready to host the Ontario Reign in a two-game series Opening Weekend. The fun starts tonight at 5 p.m. with the Street Team, Power Players Girls, and Wild Wing from the Anaheim Ducks, who will host a party on the plaza right up until 7 p.m. game time. On Saturday night, the first 2,000 fans 12 & under will get a Baby Cal Paint-Your-Own-Bobblehead. Plus, the World's Fastest Golfer David "Ogie" Ogron will be featured during the first intermission. He will attempt to break the World Record for most balls hit in the span of 30 seconds.
