Richmond Roosters News Release

Richmond, Indiana - The Roosters won 3-1 Saturday night on a great pitching performance by Matt Schweitzer. He allowed only one hit over eight innings to earn his 26th career Frontier League win, tying the league record for most wins in a career, as the Roosters topped Evansville, 3-1.

Evansville catcher Jeff Goldbach recorded the only hit off of Schweitzer, a solo homerun to left field in the fourth inning. The homer gave the Otters a 1-0 advantage.

Otters starting pitcher, Brian Kroll, held Richmond without a hit through four innings, but the Roosters came through with two runs in the fifth. Tony Sanguinetti was hit by a pitch to lead off the inning and scored three batters later on a two-run homer off the bat of Joe Rhomberg to give Richmond the lead at 2-1. The Roosters managed to tack on an insurance run in the seventh off an RBI double by Sanguinetti to score Kevin White. Schweitzer pitched through the eighth to get the win while Beau Massey threw a perfect ninth to get the save. Brian Kroll pitched well for Evansville but still took the loss.

The Roosters will finish their series against the Otters on Sunday at 4:35 p.m. (Indiana time). E.J. Shanks (0-1, 12.41 ERA) will toe the mound for Richmond while Ben Foster (6-2, 2.14 ERA) will start for Evansville.
