Defenceman Brady Schultz was in beast mode on Monday afternoon in Moncton, New Brunswick for the Mooseheads. The 19-year-old blueliner scored two goals and two assists which included a highlight reel overtime winner for the Herd in a 5-4 victory over the Wildcats.

With time winding down in overtime in a thrilling game, the fleet-footed Schultz gathered the puck in his own end and gathered speed as he circled around the Halifax net before taking it coast-to-coast for a beautiful tally as the Mooseheads split the weekend set against the Cats.

The Mooseheads were hungry for a win after a disastrous effort on Sunday in an 8-2 loss at Scotiabank Centre. Schultz then opened the second period with a blast to up the lead to 4-0 just 33 seconds into the stanza.

Moncton didn't plan on going down quietly though, and they made the Moose work for the victory by staging a huge comeback. Then it was Shawn Carrier who deflected the puck on a point shot to slice the Mooseheads lead to 4-2. The home squad continue their push in the third period with Caleb Desnoyers and Thomas Auger lighting the lamp 6:34 apart with the Auger goal coming with 2:52 remaining in regulation.

Halifax lost star Mathieu Cataford early in the third period when he was handed a game misconduct and a five-minute major for checking to the head. The Moose were successful on the five-minute penalty kill.

Both teams played it cautious in the extra period and Schultz came up with the exciting play to win it with only 11 seconds remaining on the clock before a shootout would have been needed.

Jordan Dumais remains out indefinitely following lower abdominal surgery and remains on track for a potential return in about two weeks. Luke McPhee and Dominic MacKenzie were healthy scratches.

The win was sweet redemption and got the Moose back on track in the first contest of a four-game road trip. Halifax saw the record jump to 34-14-7-1 and most importantly, regained their 10 point advantage over the Wildcats for first place in the Maritimes Division and second overall in the Eastern Conference.
