Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MOBILE, Ala - Jaime Schultz struck out 12 while the Biscuits' (73-57/39-23) offense exploded for 15 hits in an 8-2 win over the Mobile BayBears at Hank Aaron Stadium. Montgomery's magic number is now three.

One night after Jake Faria struck out 13, Schultz came close to matching him by matching his own personal career-high in punch outs. The right-hander struck out five-straight at one point and also became the Biscuits single-season record holder for most strikeouts with 161. Schultz went 5.2 innings and allowed two runs for the win.

The Biscuits jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first two innings with an RBI single from Dayron Varona in the first inning and a two-run triple from Tyler Goeddel in the second. All three runs scored with two outs. The BayBears made it close in the sixth when they scored two runs off Schultz, but the Biscuit went on to score the final five runs of the game to lead 8-2.

Goeddel led the way with three hits and three RBI. Cameron Setizer hit a laser home run in the ninth inning on a two-hit, two-RBI night. Daniel Robertson, Jake Bauers and Varona each had multi-hit games as well.

The Biscuits win coupled with a Barons' loss now give the Biscuits a 5.5 game lead with eight games to go in the regular season.

Game three is Sunday at 5:05. RH Austin Pruitt will be on the hill for the Biscuits while the BayBears will have RH Zack Godfrey on the mound.
