Schmidt Sent to Disabled List; Oaks Transferred to Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Suns, Double-A minor league affiliate of the Miami Marlins, announced today that RHP Joshua Schmidt has been sent to the 7-day disabled list, retroactive to June 24. In a corresponding move, RHP Alan Oaks has been transferred from Jupiter to Jacksonville. .

Schmidt heads to the 7-day disabled list with a right quad strain. In 26 appearances with the Suns 2012, Schmidt recorded a 2-3 record with a 3.68 ERA.

Oaks, who heads to Jacksonville from Jupiter, is making his first appearance in Jacksonville. Oaks was 1-2 with a 6.17 ERA in 17 appearances with the Hammerheads and struck out 30 batters while walking 15.

The Suns roster remains at the maximum of 25 allowed by the Southern League.
