
Schempp, Finn Reassigned to Missouri

BRIDGEPORT, Conn. - The Bridgeport Sound Tigers announced today center Kyle Schempp and defenseman Matt Finn have been reassigned to the ECHL's Missouri Mavericks by the New York Islanders.
Schempp, 22, has played five games with the Sound Tigers over the last two seasons, including three contests in 2016-17. He made his pro debut with Bridgeport on April 9, 2016 against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. Prior to turning pro, the rookie forward notched 66 points (29 goals, 37 assists) and 62 penalty minutes in 121 games with Ferris State University. Schempp was named captain of the Bulldogs during his final season.
The Saginaw, MI native also spent one season with the Traverse City North Stars (North American Hockey League) and Sioux Falls Stampede (United States Hockey League) before his three-year career at Ferris State.
Schempp, a 6'0, 178-pound forward, was originally selected by the Islanders in the sixth round (155th overall) of the 2014 NHL Entry Draft.
Finn, 22, has played 35 games with the Sound Tigers over the last two seasons, including two contests in 2016-17. Overall, the third-year defenseman has notched 17 points (seven goals, 10 assists) in 63 American Hockey League games with Bridgeport and the Toronto Marlies (2014-15).
A Toronto native, Finn has also made 28 appearances in the ECHL with the Orlando Solar Bears and Missouri Mavericks, producing 15 points (eight goals, seven assists) and 17 penalty minutes.
Prior to turning pro, Finn played four seasons in the junior ranks with the Guelph Storm of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he served as team captain from 2012-14. In addition, the 6'1, 205-pound defenseman led the OHL in plus-minus (plus-57) during the 2013-14 campaign and helped Guelph capture the championship that season, recording 14 points (five goals, nine assists) in 20 playoff contests.
Finn was initially selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the second round (#35) of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.
