Schaumburg, Ill. - The Schaumburg Flyers scored two runs in the seventh and two in the eighth to come from behind and defeat the Gary SouthShore RailCats 9-6 on Saturday night. The teams have split the first two games in the series.

Eric Cole's two-run single in the seventh inning gave the Flyers the lead after the RailCats had scored single runs in the fifth, sixth, and seventh innings to take a 6-5 lead after trailing 5-3.

Schaumburg scored three unearned runs in the first inning against RailCats starter Jeff Mault, but Gary answered with a three-run second to tie the game.

In the sixth, Chris Curry and Steve Booth drew back-to-back walks with one out and Alex Taylor followed with an infield single to load the bases. McNamee added a sacrifice fly to right to score Curry and tie the game at 5-5.

In the top of the Gary seventh, Jermaine Allensworth singled with one out and went to third on Andy Rohleder's single to center. Curry doubled with two outs to score Allensworth and make it 6-5.

But Schaumburg loaded the bases with one out in the bottom of the seventh before Cole singled to left off reliever Kris Regas to bring in two runs and give the Flyers the lead at 7-6. Schaumburg scored two in the eighth off struggling RailCats reliever Travis Kerber to close out the scoring.

Taylor had three hits and an RBI to lead Gary's 11-hit attack. Curry added two hits and scored two runs.

Mault, making his first start, struggled early, retiring just four of the first 11 batters before settling in and retiring the final seven men he faced. He worked four innings, allowing five hits and five runs (two earned) with one walk and one strikeout.
