Saturday Night Slugfest Goes to Augusta

Rome, GA - The Rome Braves and Augusta GreenJackets fought it out all night long but the Greenjackets held on for the 8-7 victory at State Mutual Stadium before a crowd of 3,251. There were 24 total hits in the game with Rome having 15 on the night.

The Greenjackets scored a run in the fourth and two in the fifth to take a 3-0 lead. In the Braves' half of the fifth, the offense got going with four runs highlighted by a run scoring hit by Ozzy Albies, an RBI double by Keith Curcio, and a two run single by Jordan Edgerton. The 4-3 score lasted until the eighth when Augusta scored three times on run scoring base hit by T. Relaford and a two run double by Cristian Paulino making it a 6-3 game. Rome quickly answered in the bottom of the inning to take the lead on a Curcio RBI single, an Edgerton run scoring base hit, and Tanner Krietemier added an RBI single for the 7-6 advantage. The Rome bullpen couldn't hold the lead as Augusta posted two runs in the ninth and held on for the 8-7 win.

Carlos Alvarado (1-0) picks up the win while Rome's Caleb Dirks (0-2) gets the tough loss.Roster Move: The Rome Braves announce that RHP Fernando Miranda has been moved to Danville and the team receives RHP Andrew Waszak from Mississippi. The roster is at 25 players.
