February 20, 2009 - Western Hockey League (WHL)
Saskatoon Blades News Release
SaskatoonBlades.com has been sporting a new look this past week. The site has gone pink in support of Cancer awareness leading up to Saturday's tilt against the Kootenay Ice. Everyone has been affected by cancer in some way and the Blades want you to come out tomorrow night and support this very worthy cause.
The Blades will be wearing special edition jerseys with a breast cancer theme. The game worn jerseys will be auctioned off on the concourse level at the Credit Union Centre during the game between the Saskatoon Blades and Kootenay Ice. All proceeds from the jersey auction, as well as $1 from every walk up ticket will be donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. Please come out to the game and support the Canadian Cancer Society and their quest to help find a cure.
Saskatoon's very own Kal Hourd will be on hand this Saturday February 21st to perform the National Anthem and sing his song, "When Pink is Just a Colour Again" during the first intermission.
Prior to Hourd's 1st intermission performance, the Saskatoon Bantam Aces II will be making a cheque presentation to the Canadian Cancer Society. The Bantam Aces spent their entire hockey season raising money and awareness for breast cancer research. Due to their season long fund raising activities, the Aces are proud to be making a donation of close to $1500 to the Canadian Cancer Society.
"The members of the Saskatoon Blades Organization including the players, office personnel, coaches and owners are all leaders in our community" commented Dean Butcher, Manager of the Saskatoon Unit of the Canadian Cancer Society. "The players especially are the leaders of tomorrow and the Blades Organization is stepping up to help others in the community. The Canadian Cancer Society is excited to be partners with the Blades once again to assist those on a cancer journey and to find a cure".
Puck drop is at 7:05PM and tickets are available by calling 938.7800 or by visiting ticketmaster.ca.
