Santos joins Grasshoppers

(GREENSBORO, NC) Right-handed pitcher Jarrett Santos is set to join the Greensboro Grasshoppers in time for tonight's game against the Kannapolis Intimidators. He joins the team from extended spring training in Jupiter, FL. In 2003, he pitched 17 games for the GCL Marlins. In 23.1 innings pitched, he allowed 27 hits and 12 runs with a 3.09 ERA. He signed with the Florida Marlins as a Free Agent in 2002.

Greensboro's Rhett James has been sent to extended spring training. James pitched to only one batter while he was with the Grasshoppers during which he threw two wild pitches. In 2003, James played with the Marlins short-season A ball team in Jamestown, NY. He was 5-1 with a 3.12 ERA. He pitched 43.1 innings allowing 37 hits and striking out 47. James was selected in the 20th round of the 2004 First-Year Player Draft.

The Grasshoppers travel to Kannapolis, NC to play the Kannapolis Intimidators today through Wednesday. The next Grasshopper home game is Thursday, April 14. Game time is 7:00PM and gates will open at 6:00PM at First Horizon Park.
