
Sanford Assigned on Conditioning

Peoria, IL (January 10, 2007) - St. Louis Blues President John Davidson announced today that goaltender Curtis Sanford has been assigned to the Peoria Rivermen, the Blues' American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate, for a conditioning stint. In addition, goaltender Jason Bacashihua and left wing D.J. King have been assigned to Peoria, and goaltender Marek Schwarz has been recalled from Peoria.
Sanford, 27, suffered a groin injury in the first period of the Dec. 1 game at Chicago. He has appeared in 12 games for the Blues this season, posting a 2-5-2 record along with a 2.93 goals against average.
Bacashihua, 24, was recalled under emergency conditions on Dec. 3 and has skated in eight games for St. Louis this season, collecting a 0-3-1 record along with a .893 save percentage.
King, 22, made his NHL debut with the Blues this season on Oct. 5 at San Jose. He has played in seven games and registered nine penalty minutes. King has skated in 28 games with Peoria, recording five points (three goals, two assists) along with a team-high 87 penalty minutes.
Schwarz, 20, will be in his second stint with the team this season. He has skated in two games for the Blues this season, collecting a 0-1-0 record along with a 3.00 goals against average. The Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic native was just named to his first career AHL All-Star Team on Tuesday. He has notched a 13-6-0 record along with a 2.59 goals against average and a .904 save percentage in 21 games with the Rivermen this season.
Tonight, the Rivermen complete a four-game road trip against the Grand Rapids Griffins. Game time is 6:00 p.m. at Van Andel Arena. On Friday, January 12, the Rivermen face off against the Toronto Marlies at 7:30 p.m. It is a Coca-Cola/Insight Date Night. Fans receive two (2) tickets, two (2) Cokes and a tub of popcorn for just $25. It is also Par-A-Dice Hotel-Casino Night, and the first 1,500 fans (21 & over) receive a deck of playing cards. The team will also wear jerseys commemorating the franchise's 2000 ECHL Kelly Cup Championship that will be auctioned off after the game. And U.S. Cellular's 25 Greatest Rivermen of All-Time continues with Curtis Sanford cards to the first 2,500 fans. On Saturday, January 13, Peoria hosts the Milwaukee Admirals at 7:00 p.m. It is OSF-St. Francis Medical Center/Children's Hospital of Illinois T-Shirt Night for the first 2,000 fans. And Kaufman Wellness Center will be on hand for free spinal checks and back massages.
