Dailey became the Crush's second head coach on June 26, 2003. Dailey joined the Crush after seven seasons as head coach of the Indiana Firebirds, and his teams have compiled an overall record of 67-47, a winning percentage of .588. In 1999 Dailey led the Firebirds to their only ArenaBowl championship and a combined regular season/playoff record of 14-3, best in Firebirds history. He was named AFL Coach of the Year following that standout campaign. He joined the Firebirds prior to the 1992 season, spending five seasons as an assistant coach before being named head coach in 1997. Dailey began his Arena Football coaching career with the Washington Commandos where he served as offensive and defensive line coach. Prior to the AFL, Dailey worked as an Assistant Coach at Towson State University and was the Offensive Coordinator at Montgomery College-Rockville (MD).

TRENDS:
HOME SWEET HOME â Since the start of the 2000 season the SaberCats have been particularly hard to beat on their home turf. San Jose owns a 27-3 (.900) record in regular season games and is 33-5 (.868) overall in that span. The team's all-time record in regular season home games stands at 45-19 (.703).
AND COUNTING â OS James Hundon had a pair of receiving TDs at New York on Mar. 7 to increase his streak of consecutive regular season games with at least one TD catch to 21. During his streak JHun has caught 53 TD passes, including a team-high 9 in four games this year.
TWO'S WILD â San Jose twice had two-game losing streaks last season, accounting for all four regular season defeats. The last time the SaberCats suffered through a one-game losing streak was back in 2002 when they lost at Arizona on July 12, their only loss of that season.
JUST WIN â San Jose's loss to New York on Mar. 7 marked just the 9th loss in 53 career regular season starts for Mark Grieb. He owns a record of 44-9 (.830) in his starts as the SaberCats QB.
SACKED â The SaberCats allowed two sacks in their loss at New York on Mar. 7 and have given up eight on the year, the second-highest total in the AFL. San Jose allowed three sacks in each of the first two games before not allowing a sack against Grand Rapids on Feb. 28. The SaberCats allowed a total of 9 sacks all of last season.
AND THE WINNER IS... â The SaberCats collected their share of awards from the AFL during the first month of the season. DS Omarr Smith was named ADT Defensive Player of the Week following San Jose's week 1 win at Detroit. Rashied Davis earned U.S. Army Ironman of the Week following a week 3 win at Los Angeles and QB Mark Grieb earned Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player of the Month honors after leading his team to a 3-0 record in February. Grieb also collected the Arena Football League Writers Association (AFLWA) Player of the Week award in week 3.
FINISH THE DEAL â The SaberCats have led entering the fourth quarter in all four games this season but their loss at New York on Mar. 7 was the first time they failed to hold the lead. San Jose was outscored by the Dragons 20-3 and has been outscored in the final quarter 59-37.
OFFENSIVE â The SaberCats amassed a season-high 335 yards of offense in their game at New York on Mar. 7, but it took them a team single-game record 62 plays to do so. San Jose averaged just 5.4 yards per play while New York was at 10.9 yards per play (283/26). The most plays ever run in a game prior to Mar. 7 was 56 at Arizona on May 4, 1996.
NOTES:
VERSATILITY â Rashied Davis has almost done it all in his career with the SaberCats. Davis was forced to make his 1st career start at DS at New York on Mar. 7, when Omarr Smith aggravated an injury in warm-ups and was a game-time scratch. Davis entered the game as a two-way player in the second half and caught 2 passes for 21 yards and had an 18-yard KO return. That's not all, the second year player, in just his 8th career game, also scored a TD on a kickoff net recovery. San Jose's last net recovery TD came on May 11, 2003, when James Williams recovered a missed field goal in Tampa Bay's endzone. James Roe was the last to score on a kickoff net recovery on May 27, 2000 against Los Angeles.
TOUGH BREAK â WR/LB Calvin Schexnayder saw his season cut short when he sustained a non-displaced fracture of his left fibula at New York on Mar. 7. Schexnayder went down in the first half after catching a pass for 14 yards. Against Grand Rapids on Feb. 28, Shakes became just the sixth player in AFL history to surpass the 8,000 mark in career receiving yards. He is expected to miss 6 to 8 weeks.
RUNNING MAN â Fullback Matt Kinsinger rushed for 19 yards on four carries, including a 17-yard TD run in the first quarter at New York on Mar. 7, to take over as the team's leading rusher. Kinsinger now looks forward to facing the Crush, a team he dominated last season. Against Colorado last year Kinsinger ran for 57 yards on 7 carries (8.1 avg) with three TDs in two games. He totaled a career-high 36 yards in four carries, including a career-long 20-yard run at Colorado on April 27 and ran for 21 yards on 3 carries with 2 TDs on Feb. 22.
REMEMBER THE 80s â The SaberCats have totaled 80 or more points in a game four times in franchise history and they did it the first time they played Colorado. San Jose reached the mark in an 80-40 win over the Crush on Feb. 22, 2003. The point total represents a tie for the third-highest in team history.
