March 9, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Colorado Crush News Release

DENVER, Colo. -- The Colorado Crush have placed offensive/defensive lineman Bryant Shaw on injured reserve and activated OL/DL Winfield Garnett from the refused to report list, it was announced today. The moves leave the active roster at the league minimum of 20 players.

Shaw suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament (MCL) in his left knee during the third quarter of the Crush's 62-61 victory over Detroit on March 4 and did not return. He has appeared in four games for the Crush, totaling 1.0 tackle, a quarterback hit and a fumble recovery. Per league rules, Shaw must spend a minimum of two games on injured reserve before he can be activated.

The Crush selected Garnett (6-6, 320, Ohio State) with the second overall pick in the Arena Football League's 2004 Expansion Draft, after acquiring the selection from the Philadelphia Soul in exchange for OL/DL Dwayne Missouri on September 17, 2003. Garnett's rights were previously held by the San Jose SaberCats although he has never played in the AFL.

Garnett appeared in 12 games for the Minnesota Vikings in 2001, starting two, and finished with 19 total tackles and two sacks. He spent 2002 on the Vikings' injured reserve with a hamstring injury. He has also attended training camps with the New Orleans Saints, Seattle Seahawks and the Jacksonville Jaguars. As a member of the Amsterdam Admirals of NFL Europe in 2001, Garnett started every game and ranked third in the league with eight sacks. He excelled as a defensive tackle for Ohio State, where he started 25 of 42 games during his career.

The Crush travel to the Western Division leading San Jose SaberCats on Sunday, March 14 at 6 p.m. MT. The next Crush home game is Saturday, March 27 at 7 p.m. vs. the Arizona Rattlers. Tickets start at just $7 and can be purchased by calling (303) 830-TIXS or logging on to ticketmaster.com.
