March 9, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I) News Release

NEW YORK – New York Dragons quarterback AARON GARCIA, New Orleans VooDoo wide receiver/defensive back LAMONT MOORE and Orlando Predators offensive/defensive lineman JERMAINE SMITH have been named Baby Ruth Real Deal Offensive Player, ADT Defensive Player and U.S. Army Ironman of the Week, respectively, for Week 5 of the 2004 season.

Garcia (6-1, 195, Sacramento State), who is in his 10th AFL season, led the Dragons (2-3) to a 64-50 victory over the previously-undefeated San Jose SaberCats (3-1) on Sunday. The 2001 Offensive Player of the Year led New York by completing 19-of-21 (90 percent) for 285 yards and nine touchdown passes and one interception. He connected with five different receivers for touchdowns and currently leads the AFL in touchdown passes (30). The former Hornet connected on three scoring strikes in the final quarter as the Dragons outscored the SaberCats 20-3 in the final 15 minutes. Later in the third quarter, Moore had an 18-yard interception return for a touchdown. Moore also had half a tackle in the game. This marks the first time that the former Bear has earned an AFL weekly honor.
