San Jose SaberCats News Release

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Mar. 9, 2004) - Veterans Calvin Schexnayder and Jerry Reese were both placed on the SaberCats' injured reserve list today after sustaining injuries in the team's loss at New York on Sunday, announced general manager Terry Malley.

Schexnayder will be lost to the team for six to eight weeks after suffering a non-displaced fracture of his left fibula.

The injury to Reese is less severe but still painful. The seven-year veteran, who has spent his entire AFL career with the SaberCats, strained his left hamstring and will be lost for a minimum of two weeks.

Both injuries occurred in the first half of San Jose's 64-50 loss on March 7. The SaberCats had to play the second half shorthanded and were outscored by the Dragons, 33-17.

San Jose returns home for the first of three straight games on Sunday, March 14, when former quarterback and ArenaBowl XVI MVP John Dutton leads the Colorado Crush into HP Pavilion. Kickoff for that game is slated for 5:00 p.m. and tickets can be purchased at all Northern California TicketMaster outlets, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, or in person at the HP Pavilion box office. For season or group ticket information call the SaberCats at (408) 573-5577 or visit the team's official website at www.sanjosesabercats.com.
