Las Vegas Gladiators partner with local charities

Las Vegas, NV – March 9, 2004 - For the remainder of the season, the Gladiators will partner with a local non-profit organization at each home game to collect donations and raise awareness for the various causes supported in Las Vegas.

On Sunday, March 14, when the Gladiators play host to the Arizona Rattlers, Clark County Reads will be conducting a book drive with those donating new and gently used children's books appropriate for ages 3-17 receiving $3 off each game ticket.

Against the Chicago Rush on Sunday, April 4, The Safety Station will be providing safety identification cards to adults and children. Fans will be asked to put their loose change in a water bottle or milk jug and bring it to the game as a noisemaker. Fans will be asked to donate their jug to the Gladiators after the game and all proceeds will go to The Safety Station.

When the Gladiators face the Detroit Fury on Sunday, April 25 the Salvation Army will conduct a food drive to help less fortunate families eat a healthy meal.

The Shade Tree, a shelter for women and children will orchestrate a towel drive on Sunday, May 2 when the Gladiators play host to the Indiana Firebirds.

On Sunday, May 16 when the San Jose SaberCats come to town, the Gladiators will encourage fans to come to the game with a thank you card for our local troops at Nellis Air Force Base whom are, or have been overseas battling for our nations.

In the final home game of the season against the Columbus Destroyers on Sunday, May 30 the Gladiators will team up with Olive Crest in an auction to help homeless and abused youth.

The Las Vegas Gladiators have already made 91 community appearances and donated to more than 40 events throughout southern Nevada this season in an effort to reach out to the local community. "Giving back to our local community is extremely important to the Gladiators organization," acting General Manager Ryan Tyson said. " We appreciate the support of our fans and want them to know we are committed to assisting in their efforts as well."

Most recently, the Gladiators celebrated Nevada Reading Week by attending reading sessions at 12 elementary schools in Clark County and will continue to visit schools throughout March as part of National Reading Month. In an effort to promote the importance of reading and online literacy, the Gladiators players and dancers have already read stories to more than 2,500 kids during these visits.

The Gladiators have also introduced a ticket program geared at allowing those less fortunate to attend Gladiators games. "Give A Kid A Game" allows local companies to purchase a block of tickets and donate them to the charity of their choice.
