Wranglers shave heads for cancer research

March 9, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Austin Wranglers News Release

WHO: Austin Wranglers Players

WHAT: St. Baldrick's Day

WHERE: Fado's Irish Pub & Restaurant

214 W. 4th Street, Austin

WHEN: Wednesday, March 10, 2004, 6 p.m.

In this year's second-annual St. Baldrick's Day benefit, the "shavees" will have their heads shaved as a sign of solidarity for children with cancer who often times lose their hair due to the harsh chemotherapy treatments they must undergo. The event will ultimately benefit the National Childhood Cancer Foundation and childhood cancer research. Last year's inaugural event raised over $5,000 for research and everyone is invited to come down to the pub and watch their contributions be put to work as their shavee is sheered.

In addition to the Austin Wranglers, the Austin Fire Department will be on-hand to support the benefit. There will be a silent auction for the NCCF with sports memorabilia and tickets from the Austin Wranglers, as well as Austin Ice Bats.
